Are females able to build more muscle by lifting weights?
Yes but they do not have as much testosterone in their body as men do so there is no danger of looking like the incredible hulk! But don't forget that diet plays a huge part in building muscle too.
Weight training for women has more benefits than just adding muscle mass. It also increases bone density which is vitally important as we age. After about 30, we don't lay down new bone mass, we can only replace what gets broken down. If we haven't stored enough bone when young, the danger is osteoporosis later. Weight training can help you build bone mass as well as muscle.
