Do Australians like spicy food?
Australia is one of the most multi-cultural countries in the world. People from everywhere have contributed their cuisine to the wide variety of food on offer.
Some of that food is spicy - Indian, Mexican, Thai, Sichuan to name a few - there's lots more.
It was not always like that - in the 1960's and earlier, Australian cooking was based on stodgy British staples like meat and three veg (the vegetables were boiled to death). The only flavor was from a little salt and pepper and maybe some Worcestershire or tomato sauce. Breakfast was traditionally porridge, bacon and fried eggs.
So much better nowadays - an emerging fusion of flavors from around the world coming out of a thriving culinary sub-culture.
