How to motivate yourself to exercise when you do not like exercising at all

I think a lot of people make the mistake of thinking that people who do consistently go to the gym do so out of motivation. The truth is even the most die-hard gym rats will have days where they don't want to go. Motivation is an emotion. Like any most other emotions, it will fade and be replaced by another. Don't count on motivation to get you to the gym. You need to make it a habit. Just like brushing your teeth every night. Do you feel motivated to brush every night? Of course not, but you do it because it is a habit.

Aim for consistency and aim to start small. Be humble and patient enough to aim for basic improvements. Make it small enough that you are likely to succeed, yet significant enough that it will truly make you better than who you were yesterday.

Think about why you want to go to the gym. Write down all the benefits that you can possibly gain if you do consistently work out. Where will you be in 3 months if you succeed. Then, think about the consequences/ negatives if you fail. Write those down too. You now have some where to aim.
