How long does raw meat take to cook in a slow cooker?
Instead of a conventional slow cooker I use Miriams Earthen Cookware for all my slow cooking. These pots can be used right on the stovetop. While meat might take 6–12 hours to cook in a conventional slow cooker, it takes only an hour to an hour and a half in MEC pots, and the texture of the meat is more tender and juicer than if cooked in a slow cooker (which is the whole reason why people use the slow cooker).
Miriams Earthen Cookware is made with pure-clay (100% primary clay), the heat from the walls of these pots is very different from the conventional heat that cooks our food in metals and enameled ceramics. It's a gentle food friendly heat that does not destroy nutrients in the food and leaves the food juicy and cooks it to a tender consistency in a much shorter time.
Also since it's primary clay it is the safest medium to cook as my food doesn't come in contact with any of the chemicals, metals or toxins in the ceramic or metal liners.
The beef bone broth I do once a week is done in 3 hours in this pot versus 12–24 hours in my electric slow cooker. I first found out about these pots here: when i was looking for a lead free and safe slow cooker.
