Yes skipping rope burns calories. It totally depends on which phase of your workout you are skipping rope. And how many times you are repeating without taking break.

If you are skipping before starting of your workout then it will work as a warm-up.

If you are skipping in middle of workout when your body is already warmed-up and your heartbeat rate is high then it will effect more to your body.

I don't think skipping rope at the end of workout is good idea. Because workout should be ended with yoga, stretching or any excersise which will lower downs your heartbeat.

I know initially it would not be possible to do 800–1000 times. But take a baby step. Set your goals. Like for first day 200times. Do it 50 then break for 30sec to lower down you heartbeat. Like wise.. And always complete your goals.

Which workout one should follow so that skipping could be more effective? You can do walking ,jogging, running . If you want to loose weight then 25min high intensity workout is needed.
