In your life there will be many people who will be jealous of you whether at home or school or your workplace or your office. So how do you tackle all this stuff and concentrate on your work and future life?
When you meet a person who is superior to you, two types of feelings are generated:-
We all wish to be successful in our lives and achieve our best. However, we often don't know the way or we are demotivated due to our association with failed people.
In our world, there are always more failed people and than successful.
For example, in Civil Services Examination (CSE) in India, almost 500,000 people try but less than 1000 succeed. Hence, if you randomly meet someone who ever aspired to be a civil servant, more than 99% chances are there to find a person who failed.
You feel demotivated meeting failed people and lose all hopes.
In such a situation, when you meet a successful person, you feel inspired from his life story and get confidence that you too can make it.
You follow that person and his advice to make your life better.
However, when you meet a person who is more successful than you for the first time, you realize your smallness and often you feel jealous. Jealously is a painful feeling because it makes you feel small. Your easy way is to bring that person to your level by finding faults and criticizing. Sometime, people even even harm the people whom they envy. But most people suffer themselves due to their feeling of envy towards others.
William Penn stated this aptely, "The jealous are troublesome to others, but a torment to themselves".
However, the same pain can motivate you as well since the only rational way to reduce this pain to improve yourself and become life that person; and if possible even surpass that person.
I have always felt both the emotions in me when I have encountered more intelligent and more successful people than me.
However, they have always helped me becoming better.
I have seen the same attitude in most people who may be jealous, who get inspired by me and try to make themselves better by following me.
Even if they don't like me as jealously is always painful to begin with, I know that if they have the right attitude, they will become better person in their life.
If their attitude is negative, they are going to lose themselves in their life.
I only feel sorry for them because they have none but themselves to blame for their poor life.
In either case, I always focused on my own work.
I always follow the serenity prayer.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.
Why to waste your time thinking about people who may be jealous of you in the negative way, since you anyway can't do anything about their feelings and emotions?
