Was Stan Lee a good person?
I don't think it's possible to label someone as wholly "good" or "evil". Nobody is so one-sided as to fit those extremes; something which, coincidentally, Marvel Comics always strove to depict, using characters like Doctor Doom, Magneto, and Loki to show this type of multifaceted appeal.
I think Stan Lee was a man who did more good than bad, though. There has been talk of his taking credit for the work of other people, like Jack Kirby, and while I will admit he often seemed to act as though he had personally written every character himself, I don't think that it was him striving to be a fame hog or anything. I think that he was just an old man who was surprised and honored to see a medium he had played a big part in, one which for many years was largely ignored, become something globally renowned.
And whatever his character flaws, Stan Lee-as far as I can tell-never let it influence his work. Whatever his full role was, we probably won't ever fully know, but Stan Lee had a definite part to play in characters like Spider-Man, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four, and they were part of his vision for a world of acceptance and harmony amidst life's many struggles. And that ideal has helped a lot of people and changed the world for the better, I think.
So yes, I think that, for what it is worth, Stan Lee was a good person.
