What are some simple, but great things? What are some simple, but great things?
Simplicity is great. As Mother Teresa said, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love."
What great things can simply transform your life?
Being with Nature
Often times, in the hustle and bustle of life, we forget about the trees, the bees and the flowers that we walk by so frequently (and forgetfully). Just being in nature with your attention open to whatever you see can be healing and inspiring.
What did you see in nature today? Take 10 minutes just to be with nature, whether it's a stroll through the park, star-gazing or simply watching the birds.
"A War is born from a place where a SMILE is forget"
One of greatest gesture, but a very simple one.
Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude."--- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Some of the simple but great things you should be grateful for:
1. You are alive:
You are here now. You have this moment and day and hopefully many days still to experience and live your life. Simple but great!
2. A roof over your head and a warm home.
A house which protects you from cold, rainy and windy weather always. It keeps you warm and give you a sense of safety and security.
3. Plenty of drinkable water.
About 780 million people don't have an access to drinkable water as per the studies. But, you have drinkable water and you can drink water as much as you want.
4. You can enjoy the small and free pleasures of life like sunrise, relaxing walk in the woods, etc.
5. Access to the internet. It helps you to connect with the world and many things which you want to know or learn about simply sitting inside your house
6. Your friends and family.
For the love, support, kindness and all the fun that they offer and you get to offer them.
Hope this helps. Thank you!
A friend of mine posted on Facebook an update about his medical condition. He is battling non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He went through some chemo, and now he is in the middle of stem cell transplantation.
One of the side effects of this latest treatment is the sensation of loss of taste.
His latest post describes one simple pleasure all of us take for granted. He said after 5 weeks of feeling everything tasted like rubber or paper, he finally tasted the delicious flavor of his wife's chicken soup.
There are many great things in life that we take for granted because we get caught up in life, we get stressed or we just concentrate on the wrong things.
Life is good, let's all enjoy its simple offerings like that delicious chicken soup.
Great question. There are so many things that we completely take for granted that even our great-grandparents didn't have. We live in a truly amazing time. Most people in the Western world can live a better life than the richest of the rich of the past.
Warm Showers. Oh my, every morning I am so thankful that I can just get out of bed and totter a few steps and have a warm shower. Can you imagine the days when people would either have to never wash or have to heat up their bath water on a fireplace?
Toilets. If you want to appreciate what you have check out these photos from all over the world of people standing by their toilets.
