What are the little things one can do to make him/her happier at work?

Dress nice every day. Come early. Leave on time. Don't eat your lunch at your desk. Eat in the lunchroom. Only stay the allotted amount of time for lunch and breaks. Take your breaks and lunches everyday. Eat slowly. Don't gossip with your coworkers. Don't Facebook. Don't play games on the computer. Call your bf, husband, wife, gf at lunch time and talk about something that makes you happy for 5 minutes, "Hi honey, what cha doin'. Miss you. I love when you wear those buy slacks. They look great on you. Gotta go. See you soon." Or text them that once. Don't play on your cell phone at work at all except on your breaks. Bring sneakers to work and change into them at break and lunch. Make sure they are the kind that you can slip on easily so you are not sitting there tying your shoes up for ten minutes. Bring pictures to work of something that makes you smile... not just your family, could be anything that makes you smile. Change the picture once a month or once a week. Throw away all of the crap on your desk or work station or locker or designated work area that does not belong there, is old, is broken, is ugly, is dirty.... Don't take things from work like pencils, papers, post its, paper clips, pens, food, products or anything ever... unless your boss specifically says you can take things. Chips away at your self esteem. If you drink, only have two cocktails with your coworkers. If you don't drink, all the better. If you wear a suit, change your tie every day. If you wear a uniform, make sure it is pristine clean every day. Do not wear perfume at work unless it is very, very mild. Perfume makes other folks sick and believe me I love perfume. I wear it all the time but I make sure it is very pleasant and very little. If you wear make up, go to the bathroom and reapply lipstick after lunch or eating something. If you do not wear make up, that is fine. You don't have to do so. Finish all your projects on time. If you are working with a team, do your part and keep silent about the other folks and let them do their thing unless you are the manager or supervisor or foreman. Just turn in your part via the route you were told. If someone wants to gossip about someone, excuse yourself and go to the bathroom. Count to twenty and come back. If they start again, say: I am busy. They will get the message eventually. They will talk about you behind your back but after a while they will get the message. Remember people at work are not your friend. They always your competition. If and when you leave, no one will remember your name. I guarantee it. Maybe one person and usually none. Some folks could end up your friend if you work with them for a very long time and even then don't count on it. Most people are at work to get ahead. They are not there to make friends. That does not mean that you are hateful or unkind as many people think you must be. You are cordial to all and you do your job. If anyone tries to keep you from working and doing your job, run from that ass. They mean you no good end.

That is how you enjoy your work. Work is not a playground. Contrary to what thousands of asinine seminars and workshops tell you, work is not a playground. You enjoy work by doing your job and being proud of what you do. I don't give a shit what it is. Be proud of what you do. The people that are happiest at work are the people that feel good about what they do because they do their job description.
