What makes you feel important?

In my world, importance = acceptance + respect.

I feel important when I accomplish tasks, when I get things done, and when I check off tasks from my to-do list with satisfication.

From these tasks, I am gaining knowledge and experience, or at least I know I am going somewhere. I know what I want and I'm on my way to get it. It's an empowering feeling.

When I gain the position/title I've wanted, I will be respected by others. If I've been pleasant and agreeable while getting to the destination, my friends will proliferate. I'll be accepted by them. That satisfies emotional insecurity.

Anyway, that's what I've gathered so far. I'll learn more as I get there.
