What movies have the best surprise endings/twists? Is there any movie with such a big twist ending that I'll never forget its impact?

Lemme give this a shot.

I'll start off with some lesser known gems...

Frailty

I will give some of movies here and there are many movies,So will update movies based on feedback

1.Fight club

For me in particular, one movie twist that is undoubtedly timeless and shocking to the core is that found in the original "Planet of the Apes", starring Charlton Heston, Roddy McDowall and Kim Hunter amongst others. Based on the 1963 French novel La Planète des Singes (mokey planet) by Pierre Boulle, this isnt a direct adaptaiton but it sticks to the general idea: a planet where apes are the dominant species and humans are nothing more than domesticated animals.
Crashlanding on a far off alien planet in the distant future, three astronauts survey the land they now inhabit. Though it intially appears to be desolate, the surviving crew members stumble upon a society in which apes have evolved into the dominate species and humans are little more than mute creatures wearing animal skins.
One of the astronauts is stuffed, one is lobotomised and Charlton Heston's character, Taylor, manages to escape from captivity.
Upon reaching the climax of the film this is where the movies mindblowing twist occurs.
SPOILERS!!!!
It is revealed that this planet is actually not an alien planet, but rather Earth in the future, destroyed by nuclear warfare. And as Taylor sees the decrepit form of the statue of liberty, almmost completely buried by sand, he screams "DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!" mirroring the audiences response.

UPDATE!!!
I personally am a massive fan of the "Rise of the planet of the apes" remake starring James Franco and Andy Serkis as Caesar. The motion capture of the apes feels alive, down to every expression and hair. The ape's movements are now more appropriately ape-like and less like the humanoid gait the primates had in the original film.

Other timeless movie twists can also be found in the following (which I won't spoil):
1) Se7en (1995)
2) The sixth sense (1999)
3) Soylent Green (1973)
4) Alien (1979)

**Spoiler Alert**

I know there are many other movies with a bigger plot twist at the end, which people could easily argue it's better than my answer, but I'll stick by this: The Others (2001).

There are quite a few actually. I'm a big movie buff, and all the following movies just blew my brains out at the end.

  1. The Sixth Sense (1999) This movie is the epitome of movie endings with mind numbing twists. Anyone who doesn't already know, can never ever see it coming. It's a great movie with even greater ending.
  2. Memento (2000) It's a masterpiece by Nolan. Everything about this movie is twist-ed ;)
  3. The Prestige (2006) Another work of beauty by Christopher Nolan that has a superb ending.
  4. Shutter Island (2010) One of my favorites. The ending just gave me goosebumps. Every time I see it, it has the same effect on me. The dialog at the end by Leonardo may be one of the best ever written.
  5. The Others (2001) This might not be on everyone's list of ‘movies that end with mind numbing twists', but I really think that it is a great movie in the horror thriller genre that has a suspenseful ending.
  6. Psycho (1960) A classic by the master of suspense thrillers - Alfred Hitchcock.
  7. The Usual Suspects (1995) According to imdb trivia, this movie topped The Sixth Sense in a poll. That should be enough to suggest how twisting it's climax must be.
  8. Witness for the Prosecution (1957) One of my all time favorites classics. This movie is much more than a courtroom drama. I have reviewed this movie on imdb too, here is the link Witness for the Prosecution Reviews & Ratings - IMDb
  9. Fight Club (1999) This is one of those movies that get more interesting with multiple viewings. It's just impossible to reciprocate what David Fincher did in this movie.
  10. Donnie Darko (2001) Mind you, this movie is not for everyone out there, but if it is for you, then you're one lucky soul. It's just another level of movie making.

There are many more movies such as these but I cannot mention each of them here. I cannot even remember all to be honest. These are some off the top of my head that have left an impression on me.

On second thought, here is a list of my imdb suspense thriller movies IMDb: Did you see that coming? - a list by shirifrnz

There are 2... In a south indian language called Kannada

There is this genius director in a south indian language called Upendra.. One of the most creative genius I have ever seen in the world cinema.. If you are a fan of "Out of the box" movies or expect something different from the mainstream cinema you should not watch the below two movie of his.. He has a unique talent of embedding philosophical values in a non stop entertaining movie with a character as crazy as you can imagine. No spoilers.

Upendra

His characters name in the movie is Naanu (Myself) , weird right?? Thats just the beginning.t. A movie that you just cannot understand in the first viewing. A sophisticated weird and crazy way of explaining philosophy. The dialogues in the movies are top notch with some brutally honest portrayal of the society.. While you enjoy his crazy antics a much more complex premise would be getting unravelled at the background. If there is a movie that you cannot explain then this one comes first in the list.
